Why Should My Company Attend Evening With Industry?

Purpose

Evening with Industry (EWI) is an annual event hosted by the Michigan Tech Society of Women Engineers the day before the Fall Career Fair. EWI aims to provide a relaxed environment where students and corporate representatives can interact before the career fair.

The event is open to all Michigan Tech University students, who will have the opportunity to network with company representatives while learning about numerous and diverse companies and the internship, co-op and full-time employment opportunities.

Opportunity

At Evening with Industry, company representatives have the opportunity to meet an array of students whose knowledge, skills, and experiences meet their technical and business needs. These representatives may also promote their company and employment opportunities while sharing their experiences in the world of work. Each company in attendance also receives access to all attending students’ resumes.

Support

Evening with Industry is the Michigan Tech Society of Women Engineers’ (SWE) largest fundraiser, and the funds generated by this event send our members to the SWE National Conference each year. This conference offers students a large career fair servicing a variety of majors, career and personal development sessions, mentoring opportunities, networking opportunities, and a place for us to present our work as an organization and win awards. It costs about $1000 to send one student to the national conference, depending on the location of the conference.  In previous years, we have been able to send about 10 members to this conference each year, just a small part of our approximately 50 active members.

By attending Evening with Industry, not only do you get to meet and network with top-tier MTU students, but you also support women in engineering by sending them to the SWE national conference and greatly expanding their network and career opportunities.

Thanks for considering our event! We hope to see you there!
